This idea is certainly worth considering. A statue would be (reasonably) permanent. But it would be expensive. If we pursue this idea, we should seek to share the cost with other bodies - ? Argyll and Bute Council, the Scottish Arts Council, the Scottish Parliament, local hotels and businesses (which might expect some return from more visitors to Inveraray – though the town seems busy enough as it is!)
